Dash of Salt 002 - Covering The Cost

2 Timothy 1:9 NIV

The Bible Says... “He has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time…”

Just a Dash

A couple of years ago, my mom had a milestone birthday and as a gift, my dad opted to take her on a cruise. Knowing it would be a great experience for his family, he extended the invitation to his children as well. He told us what the cost would be for us to have a spot on the ship, and I immediately decided, “I’m out! I can’t afford the cost”. Out of love for us and because he wanted his children to be where he was, he made provisions to cover the majority of the cost, making the experience affordable for us. There was no catch, only one condition: The portion that we were responsible for had to be paid in full before we departed.

In the same way, God knew that as sinners, there was no way that we could pay the cost for our Salvation. It would take a sacrifice far greater than we would ever be able to make. Still, He wanted us to be able to experience Salvation and eternal life in Christ. Out of love for us, God “covered the cost” of our salvation by allowing His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to be crucified for our sins. In order for us to be saved and to be where God is, all He requires is that we accept Christ as our Savior and Lord before we depart this earth. God loves us so much that before we were even formed, He made provisions for us to be with Him always. Not because of anything we've done, but because of God’s grace, He saved us, binding us to Him always and forever. What an excellent gift!
